Lesson: Friendship
At dusk on a lake dock, Wren is ready to play ferries, but her friend Bram only wants to listen for a frog. A gentle bedtime story about friends who don't always want the same thing.
For parents & caregivers
Wren arrives with her toy boat and pinecone passenger, eager to play ferries with Bram. Bram is listening for a frog and says no. Wren first wonders if he is cross with her or doesn't want to play with her at all. Bram explains that he does want to be with her, just not playing ferries right now. Wren starts to leave, then chooses to come back and play 'quiet ferries' nearby, keeping her own game while respecting his need for quiet. When the frog finally calls, they listen together, share a joke and make a pretend 'frog stop' that the frog politely ignores. Friendship appears as staying close while wanting different things. Nobody is made to agree, give up their interest or join in, and there is no explicit moral.
