Lesson: Gratitude
Tess's cardboard house has a wonderful round window, but she can't see the garden when she sits down. A smaller window helps her notice something special about Dad's care.
For parents & caregivers
Tess wants to watch the garden from her own cardboard house. Her large round window only works when she stands, so Dad helps make another at her sitting height while keeping the first. Tess is eager to get inside, but Dad also takes time to smooth the lower edge. Once she rests her elbows there, she notices the pencil mark and the smooth tape. She chooses to call Dad over and thank him for that particular care. Her wish for a space of her own remains respected as they watch a flower bend toward the birdbath.
